What is TAP FOR ALL?

Traditional tap turned upside down. Victoria Moore has taken the most exclusive dance form and re-imagined it as inclusive, accessible and available to everyone.

THE INSPIRATION

The inspiration behind the program came while attending a concert dance performance of a friend who utilized a wheelchair and hand crutches in different numbers. Her performance shifted Victoria’s perspective on what dance is and what disabled dancers are capable of.

Since tappers are percussionists, Victoria decided to take the taps off the shoes and put them on the hands and created a laptop-sized board to tap on that could sit on a lap or on top of a table. This would allow the disabled and those with mobility impairment issues, such as seniors to have access to this specialized program.

DANCE PROGRAMS
Along with the inception of the TAP FOR ALL program, Victoria has created both  classes and workshops to teach dancers, educators and studio owners around the world how to be INCLUSIVE when it comes to the disabled dancer.

BENEFITS OF TAP FOR ALL PROGRAMS
The invaluable bonus to the program is the unparalleled brain benefits to those with cognitive issues, such as:
-Alzheimer’s
-Dementia
-Cerebral palsy
-Traumatic brain injury
-Arthritis
…and more.

Since the early 2000’s, through research it has been documented that the benefits  of dance, especially tap, creates the vitally important neural pathways needed to help stave off the most cognitive disabilities. Promoting positive body image, ability, encouragement, and dance agelessness,  Victoria’s Tap for All classes bring diversity and inclusion, and sees the ability in  someone with a disability.  TAP DANCE FOR ALL – THE BOOK  Through the TAP FOR ALL program, Victoria has co-authored a book titled “Tap  Dance for All.” This first of its kind book aims to give dance educators the necessary tools to be able to incorporate inclusivity into their dance curriculum, in turn opening the door to dance for the disabled and mobility impaired. MERCHANDISE  With the classes and workshop programs, the equipment such as the tap gloves  and board are available for purchase through the Merchandise tabs in the website.

“I think your Tap for All hand tap classes are awesome!  It is amazing that you came up with a way for the residents to enjoy tap dancing without them actually having to stand and tap.  Your classes bring joy to the residents who participate.”
